Kitaro

This is actually a smaller piece of a larger class project that isn't worth talking about here.

I forget the kind paper I used but I know I painted it with gauche. I’m happy with how it came out style wise but I really should have put more effort into the pose. It’s too dull to have him just standing there with his father sitting on his head.

Usually when I do something like this I ink it, then paint it, then touch up the lines again in ink where the paint got on them. This time I didn't touch up the lines on the basis that Kitaro is a "ghost boy" and that leaving his lines pale and splotchy would give him a more unearthly feel. Admittedly, it was a bit of an after thought.

I'm really unhappy with how lame this turned out but I wanted to post it anyway because- DARN IT!- its burning a hole in my hard drive! I've toyed with the idea of making a background for him, like a Japanese Graveyard or his treehouse, but the pose is so boring that putting a ton of effort into a background just to put a character in it who's like, "meh" seems like a waste.
